Lyn and Ray were determined to create a "WOW" factor when guests enter the cottage...we hope we've achieved this. A very important design factor of this luxury cottage was light, so we've endeavoured to make all rooms as light and bright as possible. The main rooms are positioned to gain full advantage if sunlight at all times through the many glass panelled doors.
The kitchen/lounge/vestibule doors to the hallway are all glass panelled encouraging maximum light into each room. Aspenwood has full double glazing throughout and oil fired central heating. The cottage is fully insulated making it warm and cosy throughout the winter months. Entrance to the kitchen/dining room can be gained from the front vestibule/hallway or through the rear door. The open plan kitchen with dining area has three large windows all overlooking Loch Ness. Whether standing at the sink, sitting at the breakfast bar or eating at the dining table, there are stunning views over the loch to the mountains opposite and down towards Urquhart Castle. Top of the range Neff equipment is installed - ceramic hob with extractor fan - built in electric fan oven. New integral Miele dishwasher with sliding cutlery tray and sensor wash programmes. Top quality Panasonic microwave and Miele fridge/freezer complete the kitchen furnishings. Crockery and cutlery, comprising of ten place settings, are supplied along with everything one might need in a luxury kitchen. New laminate flooring.
There are two large windows in the dining area offering magnificent views across Loch Ness. Furnished with comfortable chairs around an extendable oak dining table each meal will be a pleasure. Enjoy the 19" flat screen digital wall mounted TV.A breakfast bar separates the kitchen/dining area with two stools and a radio/CD player for guests to enjoy. There are ten halogen ceiling down lights in this area which can be controlled to give a bright or softer lighting effect. A large wall map of the area will help you plan your day out over breakfast.
A fire extinguisher and fire blanket are a permanent fixture in the kitchen and are regularly inspected with guests safety in mind. There is also a fire extinguisher in the hallway and fire safety regulations.
In order to keep noise to a minimum inside the cottage we designed and built a separate utility/laundry room outside. This houses the oil fired boiler, washing machine and tumble dryer. It also offers the facility of drying clothes in wet weather and storage space.
The spacious lounge enjoys a nine-foot wide picture window offering commanding views over Loch Ness
from the comfort of the new three piece suite - just sit and watch the boats sail by.Two alcoves, with soft lighting, help make this room feel really welcoming and cosy. Furnished with a 37" flat screen digital plasma TV with HDD/DVD unit with a good selection of up to date DVDs. Listen to the CD player and select from the eclectic collection of music. There is an excellent library of fiction books, information, local literature, maps and special folders containing detailed laminated information of 'Day Trips by car' - 'Walks' - 'Places to Visit' - 'Wildlife to see' - 'Boat Trips' as well as a detailed folder for Aspenwood Information are available to help you organise your days out. 
The occasional tables, lamps and colourful wall pictures placed around the room help create the perfect ambience for relaxation. A door from the lounge leads onto the outside private decking where one can sit totally undisturbed and soak up the atmosphere of Loch Ness and the mountains opposite. A perfect place to relax.
Enjoy the computer corner in the lounge. Aspenwood offers the use of a laptop with Broadband connection free of charge - useful for gaining local information and for keeping in touch with friends and family by emails. There is also WiFi connection for guests wishing to bring their own laptops.There is no telephone for use in Aspenwood but mobile phones will get a reception in and around the cottage area.
Three bedrooms, one master bedroom with king bed, one twin-bedded and one single. All pillows and duvets supplied have non-allergenic filling. All duvets are of the 3 in1 variety so they can be put together or parted as you wish. A linen basket and a hair dryer is provided in each bedroom.
The master bedroom has en suite facilities with double shower - a large fitted double wardrobe with
mirrored door, large chest of drawers and laminate flooring. New upright bedside lamps with reading lamp make for a cosy and relaxing ambience in the room. The bedside tables are furnished with a radio alarm clock and enough room for all your bits and pieces. The colourful modern pictures all help to ensure total comfort and relaxation in this master bedroom.
Enjoy the new 37" flat screen digital TV with HDD unit/ DVD player - will you ever want to get out of bed? The master bedroom has a sliding patio door leading out onto the private decking. Whether you are sitting up in bed or relaxing on the decking furniture the views are the same - fantastic. Where else can you sit up in bed and look out onto Loch Ness ?
The Twin bedroom has views to the natural woodland at the rear of the
cottage. A good sized room with comfortable twin beds with double duvets, bedside table furnished with reading lamps and modern radio alarm clock. Ample wardrobe space, chest of drawers,laundry basket, fitted carpet. New 19" flat screen digital wall mounted TV.
The Single bedroom also has rear views to the woodland. A smaller room furnished with comfortable single bed, bedside cabinets with lamp and radio alarm clock, large fitted wardrobe with mirrored sliding door, fitted carpet, chest of drawers. New 19" flat screen digital TV mounted on the wall for you to lie back and enjoy.
A large separate bathroom with bath and shower over bath, basin, WC., bathroom cabinet, shelf and towel rails. There is even a good selection of prints for you to gaze at while you get ready for the day ahead.
A storage cupboard houses the iron and ironing board, Miele vacuum cleaner, broom, ashpan & brush etc. and hooks for coats. First aid kit kept here. We supply a good size ironing board and iron. We also make available 2 Thermos flasks and a rucksack for guests use. A highchair and cot are available upon request. Around the cottage is a paved path and a large gravel area interspersed with a colourful variety of seasonal potted plants.
The natural habitat surrounding the unfenced cottage environment is abundant with wild flora and fauna. Wild primroses and bluebells bloom in profusion during the spring. Different species of deer are frequent visitors. There are numerous native red squirrels and many species of birds which will come and feed on the feeding fence and nightly visits from badgers and pine martens. Relax in the open plan garden area at the large solid picnic table situated between the cottage and the forest with outstanding views over the loch and the mountains opposite. A cemented base for easy parking is adjacent to the cottage.
You can't help but relax in the garden area and gaze at the different boating craft on Loch Ness & chill out.
