Lyn and Ray Cooper are the proud owners of Aspenwood Holiday Cottage.
Our aim is to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible with every comfort provided.
We purchased the land where the cottage now stands in late 2001 and designed Aspenwood specifically with our future in mind, i.e our retirement -although hopefully not quite yet. Until that day arrives we would like all our guests to share in our little piece of heaven in the Highlands.
We had great fun - and a few worries - watching the cottage being built. We used a local firm in Inverness called Roy Homes and they were really excellent. The building took 6 months to complete and we were finally given the keys in June 2002. We were then able to furnish & equip the cottage to the high standard that we both wanted for our guests. Having enjoyed many self catering holidays in the UK and Europe we were determined that Aspenwood Cottage should surpass any holiday cottage we had stayed in and we feel that we have succeeded and we hope our guests do too.
In the photo you can clearly see Aspenwood - the upper property - nestling in Farigaig Forest with
commanding panoramic views overlooking Loch Ness. The property below is where we live so we are on hand if needed. A short pleasant stroll down a well maintained grassy track will take you right down to the secluded beach on the shores of Loch Ness where you can dip your toes in the cool water and make a wish - maybe for the water to be a bit warmer! Take your fishing rod and have a cast or two from the beach. We often sit down on the beach with a wee dram in the evening and think just how fortunate we are ... we never take where we live for granted.
Originally London born and bred and living round the corner from each other we finally met and married and moved to Milton Keynes as pioneers when we were in our youth. When that part of the world became too busy we took the plunge to move elsewhere and for some strange reason we chose Scotland although we had never ever been to that part of the country before. After much travelling to the east and west coasts we finally felt at home in Inverness-shire and settled near to Loch Ness in 1996. We live just below Aspenwood nearer Loch Ness shore in Lower Birchwood House. Therefore should any of our guests require help or advice we are only a short stroll away. We really enjoy meeting people and are usually available for a friendly chat over a glass or two of wine.

We live with our 2 cats, sisters called Maisie and Daisy - our very own 'Loch Ness Monsters'.
